after delivery (w epidural) I was cramping so bad I couldn't move could barely put the baby back in the carrier to make it to the bathroom. So I paged the nurse for help and tells me I had to walk to make it feel better so she watches me completely hunched over grabbing what I can on the way to the bathroom and stands there holding a pad for me to put on once I made it to toilet. I peed for like 2mins continuously she tells me it was a bladder spasm from it being sooo full. (Instant relief)
Delivery went well, after care went well. Nurses and doctors in delivery and recovery were just okay
The ER, though, ugh. Went in with blood pressure of 220/124; had headache at level 7; had had a nosebleed earlier and been dizzy/lightheaded all day. I was 'seen' by a nurse practitioner who told me to "not check your pressure so often, more like every three days." The actual doctor spent less than one minute in my room. Fortunately my BP went down, and I was able to leave. For serious problems, I have no confidence in this ER. Doctors should be giving primary care, in my opinion. I'm an RN myself, so I have no problem with NP in certain settings.
Great maintenance folks. Extremely
Everyone in the ER are femaminal. Dr. L. Crenshaw is great. Thankful for them.
Gallbladder surgery at Shelby hospital. Staff, nurses, and the surgeon were all so very kind and professional. There was a nurse with me during the entire post-op recovery. Rooms were spacious, even the pre-op out-patient room was larger than I've seen anywhere else. I will never go back to Gaston Memorial for anything!
This ER is okay for minor things, like getting fluids for nausea/vomiting. I was direct admitted to Coronary Care and the staff was excellent there.
After my experience here I will not recommend this hospital. I Went to the ER because I believed I was in labor. When I walked In and told the woman at the desk she looked at me funny and with an attitude asked how far along I was. (39wks,4days I was carrying small). There was no sense of urgency I was obviously in pain. I was told to take a seat and wait to be registered. When the registrar came up again no urgency and got all my information. I was taken to L&D. Hooked up to the monitors checked and was basically left alone in the room for hours literally since I was only 3cm I'm assuming. Midwife came in for all of 30sec literally and said she will monitor me before they decide to admit me.(crying in pain at this point) A few hours later my bed was wet so I paged the nurse and said I thought my water broke. NO ONE CAME. My boyfriend went out to find a nurse he said they were all sitting there talking. About 10mins later someone came and it was actually blood. They checked me again and told me i could walk, use birthing ball, go in birthing pool etc. to progress labor(gave me no direction of where these things were or where I could walk). And left the room again. As I am still Sitting in blood. My boyfriend had to go thru the cabinets to find me a clean gown and new bed cover. So I changed and proceeded to go out and walk for an hour as they suggested. 45mins in the pain was umbareable i paged the nurse once again so I can be checked. And I was 6cm they immediately moved me to another room and gave me pain medicine and my epidural.
